Writer

Manifest the career you want at Archie Group! We are a leverage provider to growth-stage companies looking to build their reputations. A key service we offer is communications & public relations, yet Archie Group is so much more—broker, investor, incubator, a place for entrepreneurs in residence and the list goes on. We help people and companies achieve unthinkable outcomes together.

Archie Group was started five years ago to challenge the constraints the traditional work model places on thinking, creativity and execution. Everyone who works with Archie is a member and most will participate in our revenue-and profit-share models that value teamwork and individual contribution over set hours. Whether you’re a career portfolio manager, an aspiring entrepreneur, a permalancer, someone returning to a career after time out of the workplace, or a recent graduate—we welcome all walks of life to our ‘way of work’ and provide the path to help you succeed.

The role:

We are looking for a great writer with a dedication to the craft and an eagerness to learn new topics, trends and technologies that help you advance in your role. You may have a journalism background, corporate writing experience or a mix of both. More importantly, you understand the nuances between editorial and PR and can adapt your writing style to achieve content goals.

You take a creative approach to business writing, knowing there are many ways to tell a story. You excel at distilling complex subjects into reader-friendly narratives and apply critical thinking skills to develop unique, compelling perspectives. You pride yourself in attention to quality, accuracy and the ability to ‘start from scratch’ and turn in polished copy.

You like to collaborate with others but can work on multiple projects at a time independently and manage the client review process to the end.  You’re comfortable taking initiative, interviewing executives to extract ideas and storylines and vocalizing your opinion to produce the best product. You like to think outside the box about ways to merchandise content, whether it be social, video, a newsletter or at an event.

Duties:

  • Proactively propose story and narrative ideas for client content initiatives

  • Leverage editorial skills for high-quality written content including press releases, blogs, thought leadership articles, website copy, awards submissions and more

  • Conduct interviews and research to get up to speed on topics and draft original assignments while managing the review and edit process to finish

  • Manage a content calendar to keep clients informed of schedule and progress

  • Contribute to the creation, launch and expansion of Archie’s blog and media properties

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as a business journalist or writer producing articles for mainstream and trade publications and/or working in communications or PR at a company or agency

  • Ability to write across Archie client industries (e.g. fintech, legaltech, insurtech, private equity, ESG) and priority topics (e.g.; digital transformation, capital raises, portfolio company investments, product launches, financial education, DEI)

  • Experience interviewing startup founders, C-suite leaders, and experts to generate original content for thought leadership pieces

  • A self-starter with a passion for learning new and disruptive content trends, mediums and technologies that reflect the innovative nature of our business

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and social platforms and hands-on experience with tools like MailChimp, Airtable, HubSpot, WordPress and the Adobe Creative Suite is a big plus

The Writer role is available to hybrid, remote and asynchronous schedule candidates. We are open to candidates interested in full-time, flex-time and contract work. The ideal candidate is able to travel for work and periodically and on-request work from Archie's hub in Darien, Connecticut.

Archie Group welcomes diversity and is committed to developing and implementing programs and initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in all areas of employment. Our hope is that our initiatives, including the recruitment of candidates from underrepresented groups, will help close representation gaps in the PR industry.
